Handira, otherwise known as Wedding Blankets are authentically handmade in Morocco by family members of brides to be. They are presented as an offering of well wishes for the newly weds and used by the bride traveling to and from the ceremony for warmth. Each blanket is made from a combination of wool, cotton and linen and features neutral tones, silver embellishments and sometimes strips of kilim or coloured threads. Many hours of love and patience go into creating these blankets and each is completely unique to the next. These pieces look amazing as bed throws. The size we have available are perfect for single to double sized beds.
